A Special Gift by Donna Jay (#lesbian #bdsm)

Okay, before we begin, if you have not previously enjoyed the sweet and sexy erotic romance, Finding Love Down Under, then you need to do that right away. I mean, technically, you could read A Special Gift as a standalone story, but you would miss so much of the significance here. Plus, you are missing out on a wonderful story, and that is always a shame.

With A Special Gift, Donna Jay follows up on the original story, reuniting us with Claire and Zoe a few months after we last saw them. While they are enjoying their happily-ever-after, there are still some tensions between them, owing to unresolved issues from previous relationships. So, when Zoe presents Claire with an early Xmas gift, her nervous uncertainty is completely understood, especially once we learn about the simple blindfold inside.

If the original novella was a story about learning to love, then this is a story about learning to trust.

Once again, Donna Jay weaves a wonderful story that balances soft-core BDSM with genuine romance. There is a little exhibitionism involved this time around, which I absolutely adored, and one of the most sensual scenes of erotic submission that I have enjoyed in quite some time. Every touch is a significant moment, and the way our senses come alive is really remarkable. We already care about Claire and Zoe, but if you want to see how an author builds chemistry between her characters, taking their relationship with the reader to another level, then A Special Gift is even more of a must-read.
